Bentota a popular beach destination in the south-western and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka is an unique mixture of the turquoise waters of the sea and the lagoon is endowed with a stunning landscape of greenery with exceptional recreational facilities. South of the city of Colombo, the city of Kalutara with its fine beach is the gateway to south western and southern bay beaches. The Turtle Conservation Project (TCP) in association with the Wildlife Department of Sri Lanka has set up a community based turtle hatchery and turtle watching project in the Kosgoda Beach located 8km south of Induruwa beach. The preferable time to visit the place is during winters when the temperatures are comparatively less and pleasant to experience and witness the scenic beauty of the place.
It is approximately 65 kilometres south of Colombo and 56 kilometres north of Galle. Any international tourists travelling from abroad have to get down at the Colombo Airport and then make the onward journey towards Bentota. Bentota is located 64km south of Colombo in the South-western coastal belt of Sri Lanka.
