According to the latest news, tourists are now allowed to visit Lachung in Sikkim. The popular tourist destination was affected by flash floods in early October, but the road has been restored and the area is now accessible. The alternative route through Dzongu-Shipgyer adds an additional 16-17 km to the journey.
Despite facing recent challenges with flash floods, the destination (Lachung) is accessible again, the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Secretary Prakash Chettri also mentioned that the route to Lachen-Gurudongmar point will remain closed until further notice. Restoration work is ongoing in the region following the aftermath of the flash floods that wreaked havoc on road infrastructure and connectivity in North Sikkim towns like Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang nearly two months ago.
Lachung is famous for its captivating tourist destination with its breathtaking beauty. Surrounded by lush valleys, zigzag rivers, and snow-capped peaks.
