According to the PTI, this plan engage the development of a 6km stretch of the Yamuna from Wazirbad barrage (Sonia Vihar) to Jagatpur (Shani Temple) for tourist cruise operations.
The Delhi Tourism Transport and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) launch a Request For Quotation (RFQ) to find an operator for two solar or electric battery powered cruises on the designated stretch of the river.
Once operational, it'll take the tourism to the next level by introducing an eco-friendly sustainable means of water transport for boosting river cruise tourism. The venture will be a co-operative effort of the following- Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), Delhi Development Board (DDA) , Delhi Jal Board (DJB), (DDTDC) and the irrigation flood and control departments, as per the proposal.
The operator specifics the route plan, DTTDC will hire an operator for cruise services with Sonia Vihar as embarkation and disembarkation points, covering a distance of seven to eight kilometers in a round trip.
