The highest railway bridge in the world tells its own story about its importance and the atrocities. This segment covers the project's beginnings, important milestones, and the vision behind this tremendous engineering feat.
A trial run on the Katra-Banihak section of the much awaited train route was recently held by the Indian Railway. This includes the famous Chenab Bridge of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The final CSR inspection will be done on 2025, after that actively trains will be running normally. The much talked about now finally opens, the Chenab River is at a height of 359m (1,178ft) above the river, which is 35 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower in paris.
The high altitude arch bridge between Bakkal and Kauri in Reasi district makes a significant link from Katra to Banihal. The bridge is part of the Udhampur-srinagar-baramulla Railway link (USBRL) an aspiration project costing Rs 35000 crore. This will be the first rail connection between Jammu & Kashmir and the Indian mainland. The bridge will have a total span of 1315m out of which a trussed arch main span of 469m would constitute the largest single span.
Construction became complete with the finalization of works and commissioning of the bridge:
Final Inspection: These final inspections were intended to certify that the bridge was ready for use. All last minute grievances were settled promptly.
Inauguration: Chenab Bridge was then inauguration with excellent dazzle and splendor, marking the last step of a huge undertaking in engineering. Now the bridge stands ready to become an important link in railway networking, thereby improving connectivity and providing multiple advantages to the region.
