Padamchen a small village lying in the Himalayan foothills offers sparkling weather conditions and waterfalls, making it one of the most dazzling holiday destinations in the Silk Route circuit (East Sikkim) just 14 kms from Rongli and 4 kms from Zuluk. Organize the itinerary, keeping in mind either of these place as a base for covering Padamchen. You can visit the nearby the heritage Forest Rest house to experience the golden days of the Forest Officers and Sahibs, who often travelled this way. A few days stay is worthwhile here since it is supported by a wide variety of bird population (like Fulvettas, Laughing thrushes, Steppe Eagles, Honey Buzzards, Wrens, Tits, Pheasant and many more) and avid bird watchers love to watch them. Leopards and Himalayan Black Bear are occasional visitors in the forest. Thambi View Point (around 18 kms away) at 11,200 feet, is a special spot not be missed by anyone let alone a tourist, giving you a captivating panoramic sunrise over the majestic Kanchenjungha in early morning.
A few minutes’ drive from Padamchen is the beautiful Kuikhola falls. You can also take a short trek in the forests of Padamchen and discover the trail of the original Silk Route through which the traders used to travel on horseback for thousands of years. Another 30 minute drive will take you to the gentle Kalpokhri Lake, Kupup Lake and Adi Baba Mandir.
