Bangkok's temples are a special aspect of the capital's soul and heart. A trip here would not be complete without a visit to at least a few of them. The architecture is breathtaking and the sparkling decoration unlike any other. Picture of thousands of pieces of coloured glass and pottery covered in intricate structures glide in blinding gold. The early morning is the best time to visit the most temples, it's cooler and less crowd, monks reside within the temple complexes, wake up at about 4am, perform prayers and duties, aaand then go out to gather food and essential from common people on the streets.

Loha Prasat Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan
Bangkok is not short of grand temples and each is more beautiful snd stunning than the last, but Loha Prasat stands out from the rest with its distinctive architectural profile.

Wat Pathum Khongkha
Chinatown's Wat Pathum Khongkha is a lovely temple from the Ayutthaya era, but once used for an unusual, somewhat macabre function. It was a place of execution for members of the Royal Family during the early Rattanakosin era.

Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Temple
Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Temple is a sikh temple located in Pahurat, at the boundary of Chinatown. It is the center of Bangkok's small but vibrant Sikh population. The 6- storey white temple is crowned in 1932 and is the second largest of its type outside India.

Sri Maha Mariamman Temple
Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is a hindu temple for the Goddess Mariamman. It was constructed by Tamil immigrants in the 1860s, and its riotous mixture of rich colors and heavy ornamentation is a preety unusual sight in Silom. It's a nice spot for a small dose of Indian architecture smack in the in the middle of Bangkok.

Wat kalayanamit
In spite of its dominant presence on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River in the western bank of the Chao Phraya River in the form of its gigantic temple building. Wat Kalayanamit does not receive its due attention from tourists, city guides, or even locals. The popular Wat Arun that is nearby and much more famous is a draw and takes away the crowds from some of the other Thonburi area attractions and temples.

Wat Benjamabhopit
Wat Benjamabhopit, better known as Wat Benja, was constructed by King Rama V in 1900 and is famous for more than one thing. It's also Known as 'TheMarble Temple' due to the fact that all the outer walls of the main temple are clad in marble brought from Italy but is better known known as the temple stamped on the reverse of 5baht coins.

Wat Prayoon
Wat Prayoon otherwise refferes to as Wat Rua Lek, located on the west bank of the Chao Praya River. Constructed in the time of King Rama III, the temple's finest ponts are its enormous inverted bell shaped chedi pagoda, turtle mountain that contains spirit houses, and a pond where people can feed the turtles.

Temple of Dawn(Wat Arun)
Wat Arun, also called Wat Chaeng, is a landmark temple on the west (Thonburi) side of the Chao Phraya river. It's quite possibly one of the most beautiful temples in Bangkok, not just due to its riverside setting but also because the architecture is quite different from the other temples you can see in the Thai Capital.

Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew)
Wat Phra Kaew (also called the Temple of the Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram locally) is Thailand's most significant Buddhist temple. Situated in the historic center of Bangkok and on the grounds of the Grand Palace, the temple houses Phra Kaew Morakot (the Emerald Buddha), the very sacred Buddha image carefully crafted from a single piece of jade.
