Munnar - A beautiful hill station in Kerala

Munnar is a town and hill station located in the Idukki district of the southwestern Indian state pf Kerala. Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,600 meters (5,200 feet) above mean sea level, Munnar is often referred to as the “Kashmir of south India” and is popular honeymoon destination. It is known for its tea estates, greenery, winding roads, blanket of mist, and viewpoints.

Munnar lies at the confluence of three rivers: Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala. The town is surrounded by more than 12,000 hectares of lush manicured tea fields, which form a picturesque background for the place. The region’s colonial bungalows boast the glorious past of this place.

Some popular places to visit in Munnar include:

1. Eravikulam National Park: This national park was once the hunting place of the British. It is home to the highly endangered Nilgiri tahr, a wild goat species. The park offers outstanding beauty with its grasslands and is an ideal place for seeing high elevation shola grassland systems.

2. Munnar Tea Museum: Run by Tata Tea, this museum showcases the evolution of the tea industry in Munnar. Visitors can explore an interesting array of relics, artifacts, photographs from the past, and understand the complex tea processing from the adjacent tea processing center.

Munnar’s pleasant romantic climate and laid-back atmosphere make it one of the most preferred honeymoon locations in India.
