The Malaysian government has recently announced that it will allow visa-free entry to Chinese and Indian nationals for stays of up to 30 days starting from December 1, 2023. This move is expected to boost the tourism sector, which has been hit hard by the pandemic. China and India are this Southeast Asian country’s fourth and fifth-largest source markets, respectively.
According to a news article, tourist arrivals from China and India to Malaysia have risen significantly in the January to June period. Malaysia welcomed a total of 9.16 million tourists, including 498,540 from China and 283,885 from India. This marks a significant increase compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic.
Moreover, the move to introduce visa-free travels aligns with efforts to revive the tourism sector and address economic challenges. And now after this decision by Malaysian government, there will be more numbers of tourists and would be the most preferable destination.
