In an exclusive interview with India Today, Dr. Ilaj Elahi, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi, highlighted the following key points:

Visa-Free Travel: Iran recently announced visa-free travel for Indian passport holders, aiming to strengthen historical friendship and foster closer ties between the two nations.
Breaking Stereotypes: The cancellation of visas for 33 countries, including India, is an effort to challenge the false image of Iran perpetuated by Western media. The goal is to enable people from around the world to easily visit Iran and experience its realities firsthand.
Iran’s Tourism Potential: Iran boasts rich cultural heritage and ranks among the top countries globally in terms of cultural significance and potential for attracting international tourists. The Iranian government has invested in developing tourism infrastructure, including hotels and residences, to welcome visitors. India, with its historical ties to Iran, is an attractive destination for tourists, including Paris who can explore their roots and Zoroastrian sites.
Indian Pilgrims: Despite sanctions, the number of Indian Shiites visiting Iran for pilgrimage has increased. With visa requirements lifted, this trend is expected to rise further.
Persian Language and Cultural Exchange: India has a deep-rooted connection to Persian language poetry. The elevation of Persian poetry owes much to Indian poets. Strengthening this cultural exchange remains a priority.
