The Indian Tourism Sector is expected to double in size in the next 10 years, according to world Tourism and Tourism Council (WTTC) President and CEO Julia Simpson. WTTC is the global authority on the economic and social contribution of the travel and tourism industry and works with governments on issues of the sector.
In India, 45 million people are employed in the travel and tourism industry, which is expected to double in value. "The sector will be worth billions in India in ten years," Simpson told PTI in an interview.
High-end professionals including engineers, artificial intelligence specialists, technology specialists, finance experts, and marketing specialists are employed in the travel and tourism industry, which is fantastic. We also hire folks for whom it might be their first job or a chance to transition from the informal economy to the formal sector," she said.
According to Simpson, India is among the most stunning and remarkable nations on earth. Its beaches and stunning cities have drawn tourists and travellers for decades. The good news is that although the tourist industry has been expanding, greenhouse gas emissions have not, indicating that India is becoming a more efficient travel and tourism destination. She continued by saying that India's hospitality is amazing and that the country still welcomes the globe with open arms.
Examples of how nations might develop their travel and tourism industries can be found all around the world. "The natural India along its coastline, with its stunning beaches, flora, and animals, is what tourists want to see, not a lot of construction. "To help restore some of the natural flora, we would like to collaborate with the Indian government," she stated.
“One important message for India is to decarbonize road transportation as soon as possible," she stated. "I am aware that reducing air pollution has been a primary priority for the Indian Prime Minister. And part of it involves increasing investments in solar and renewable energy sources and reducing reliance on coal-fired power plants. India would become one of the most developed developing economies globally under PM Modi's leadership, according to Simpson.
