Holiday Travel Trend 2024: Goa tops the charts as India plans extended festive getaways

Goa is the most sought domestic destination this holiday season, according to Make My Trip's most recent study, Travel Search & Booking Trends in India for Year-End 2024.

Hill stations are becoming increasingly popular, with 40% of all travel searches occurring in the top 20 domestic cities. The increasing demand for cooler, picturesque getaways is reflected in the notable double-digit surge in search interest, reported in Manali, Varanasi, Mussoorie, and Udaipur. It turns out that hill stations in both North and South India make up about 40% of the most popular travel destinations, shows how popular nature getaways are.

Similar to previous year, the Saturday before Christmas, December 21, is when the travel surge peaks this year. But a noticeable spike in searches for December 25th suggests that a lot of vacationers intend to prolong their trips into the New Year.

Indian tourist seem excited to relax, explore, and enjoy as the year comes to an end, bringing both domestic and foreign locations to life for the holiday season.
