A highly increasing trend between South-East Asia and South Korea can exchange with respect to economic growth, cultural exchange and improved regional cooperation. The 2019 report of the ASEAN-Republic of Korea on Tourism Cooperation: Foresting people to people relations, from 2015 to 2019, international tourists arrivals from south east Asia to South Korea increased 14.7 percent yearly, with Southeast Asians comprising 15 percent of total tourists in 2019 and placing third behind  China and Japan. Examining this observation, the Southeast Asian visitors were attracted most by weak power associated with Korean culture popularly known as hallyu and also by beautiful tourist destination and the availability of attractive visa regimes.

South Korean tourists account for 7.3 percent of tourists entering the region, they are looking for value for money, food, sun and beach experiences.  While the viewpoint offers optimism, it also recognize some challenges from overtourism and uneven development in specific destinations to visa restrictions and limited aviation connectivity that need to be examined, for example the majority of arrival traffic is concentrated at lncheon international airport.

Examined how to improve connectivity between major and secondary cities in both Korea and Southeast Asia, the airfare also competes with the outbound travel decisions to tourists on either side, the report points out opportunities for growth in both regions harnessing sustainable tourism practices, digital marketing and film production, as areas of collaboration toward building a more resilient and inclusive tourism sector. Moreover, special interest tour are being developed, digital nomad visas are promoted and infrastructure in secondary destinations is improved to attract new segments of travelers and ensure a more equitable distribution of benefits, for an easier experience for the traveler. The South Korean policymakers concerns exploring 'visa exemptions ', and an extension of other measures, which takes into consideration the e-visas to Southeast Asian travelers.
