Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that the Arunachal Pradesh cabinet on 2025 santion the tourism policy 2025-30, a significant move towards sustainable community led and high value tourism in the state.

Itanagar: Rafting along swift streams, paragliding from frozen mountains tops and pilgrimages to Buddhists' and Hindus' holy sites like Tawang and Parauram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh will be hassle-free and secure with the state cabinet acceptance of a new tourism policy.

Besides developing world-class infrastructure and connectivity, the government of Arunachal Pradesh will develop road networks, construct eco-friendly hotels and develop digital tourism platforms. Khandu noted that eco-tourism, adventure sports, spiritual circuits, and farm and wine tourism are being classified as niche tourism segments. The state government is flagging off investment in building tourism infrastructure and strengthening adventure sports through a Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) model. A serious initiatives will be taken up in adventure and eco-tourism, to thereby promote trekking, rafting, paragliding, and wildlife tourism. 

The Arunachal Pradesh government is also initiating spiritual and pilgrimage circuits by developing the Buddhist circuits connecting Tawang-Kanzimane-Chumi Gyatse-Parsuram Kund. Healing therapies based on AYUSH and eco-wellness retreats would equally be promoted alongside developing hot water springs and wellness tourism, which would in turn provide opportunities for economic and employment activities. The local communities is inspired by promoting homestays, handicrafts, and rural tourism to enhance their livelihood.

As regards to maintainable and liable tourism, eco-friendly tourism policies are ready for conservation and the reduction of ecological footprints. The tourism policy 2025-30 says that Arunachal Pradesh, with its rich agricultural heritage, can promote agro-tourism through farm stays and organic experiences. Fruit-based wine industries will be developed for wine tourism, with national-level collaborations. This will provide ample direct employment opportunities in hospitality, tour operations, adventure tourism, and transport, as per the cabinet of the state. 

Indirectly, there will also be employment in agriculture, handicrafts, food processing, and event management. Khandu also informed that the Cabinet of Arunachal Pradesh approved India's first dedicated horticulture policy, which would help set a national benchmark for sustainable, climate-resilient, and commercially-driven horticulture. The policy's major highlights include the Arunachal Kiwi Mission, which would make Arunachal Pradesh the leading Kiwi producer in India.

The Arunachal Spice Mission for growing spices, and the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Mission for the large-scale cultivation of medicinal plants for the AYUSH sector programs. Gender-inclusive budgeting and hortipreneurship will empower women and youth, while integrated farming and eco-friendly practices will be promoted for sustainable and climate-resilient horticulture.
